Fun Fact #1- In 1708 Chief Catoonah, a Ramapoo Indian, deeded about 20,000 acres in exchange for 100 pounds of Connecticut currency to 32 colonists from Norwalk and along Long Island Sound and was officially created in 1709 by the General Assembly. In 1714 it received a town patent from Queen Anne of England.

Fun Fact #2- The oldest house in town was built in 1712 or 1713 for the Rev. Thomas Hauley, a Harvard graduate who served as minister until 1735. It stands at the corner of Main Street and Branchville Road.

Fun Fact #3- Connecticut Magazine regularly ranks Ridgefield highest in quality of life, based on its schools, low crime rate and scope of services.
